Stayed in a courtyard room. Very European feel to the place. Coffee bar is nice. Location is great for someone with big city chops. Tourist or people in from the suburbs might find it a bit gritty downtown. Food options nearby are great.

Excellent location. Courtyard is really great especially when there’s a foot and a half of snow on the ground back home. Room is a bit small, but it’s nice to have so much other space to chill in I hardly notice it! Excellent option for anybody commuting to SF as well. BART is only a 5 minute walk away. It takes 16 minutes to get to SF downtown from the nearest bart station.

While I can't speak to the experiences of other guests, I've had the distinct pleasure of staying at Oaktown Roost 5+ times, and this place has been an amazing experience every. single. time. They say the devil is in the details, and this place has thoughtful touches in spades, with all the charm inherent to a historic building wrapped in a modern, 21st-century package. Please keep in mind that there is no elevator in the building (stairs only), and the bathrooms can be a tight fit, depending on the person. However, as long as those aren't dealbreakers, you really can't get a better value than Oaktown Roost, especially given the unparalleled access you'll get to Downtown Oakland for the price.

The Oaktown Roost was such a great find in downtown Oakland. My room was really clean and the bed super comfortable. The front desk staff were also really helpful. The hotel felt secure with the coded entry and the access to tea and coffee facilities in the lounge area was a nice touch. Not loads around the immediate area, unless you're looking for Chinese food, but great location for public transit links.

My family and I stayed at Oaktown Roost for three nights while visiting Oakland and had a wonderful experience! I really appreciated how the decor felt urban and comfy - exactly how you would expect to feel if you had a home in the city. The room was clean and well-maintained. The staff was kind, responsive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The location was very convenient for getting around the city. It is right by BART and has a parking lot on site that is directly across the street, which felt protected but also accessible. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to anybody looking to stay in Oakland.

I had a great stay at Oaktown Roost. The rooms were spacious, stylish, and were freshly updated from renovations. The building is full of charm and location is very convenient for exploring Oakland and getting around the Bay Area (close to public transportation). The staff were friendly, which made the stay even better. I’d definitely stay here again! ⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
